CREW & LIVE TRACKING

Live tracking for your crew, with or without GPS.

Friends and family on the course are priceless, as long as they actually see you. Dolichos tells your crew where to stand, what to hand you and when you will come by. On race day your arrival time is calculated from your pace plan and corrected by every sighting, or, if you want, by your phone’s GPS.

INVITE

Join by code

Your crew joins with a six-character code you read out, a link from the group chat or a QR code. You see who has joined, assign roles like spotter or coach and can revoke access at any time.

  • Code, link or QR code
  • Roles: general, spotter, coach
  • Revoke or renew the invite
Crew plan in Dolichos, "By person" view: Ben with a confirmed stop at the Alte Oper at 13:28, Jana as spotter with two confirmed stops, Alte Brücke at 11:09 and Skyline Plaza at 13:04, below it the invite code with "Share", "Copy invite link" and a QR code
ASSIGNMENTS

Who stands where, and what do they do?

You assign each person to a point on the course. The time window comes from your expected arrival in the pace plan plus a buffer. Tasks like "hand over a gel" or "take my jacket" attach to a point and, if you like, to a person. Your crew confirms their assignment, and you see "confirmed" or "open".

  • Warning when one person has two overlapping assignments
  • Aid stations on the course map
  • Crew briefing as text to share
LIVE

One tap, and every ETA moves

On race day your crew sees your calculated position on the course. Whoever sees you taps "Athlete was seen". Dolichos works out your real pace and moves the arrival time at every point ahead.

  • Distance, pace, time remaining and ETA at a glance
  • Sightings are queued and sent when the signal is back
  • Alerts: race started, athlete approaching, window missed, finished
Live panel in Dolichos: 33.9 km, pace 5:10/km, 0:43 to go, ETA 13:38, the Alte Brücke stop with "You reported that Tom passed", the Skyline Plaza stop from 12:49 to 13:19 with a "Tom just passed" button, and an "Athlete approaching" notice
GPS (OPTIONAL)

Your phone as the tracker, if you want

If you run with your phone, tap "Start live tracking" in the app before the start. It starts with the race and sends your position about every 30 seconds, even locked in your pocket. Your crew sees your dot and your trail on the map, and the arrival times at every point ahead use your real pace. If GPS drops out between high-rises, your crew sees that, and the forecast takes over from the last good fix.

  • About 5% battery per hour, sent in batches
  • Fixes from dead zones are sent later
  • Your crew sees lost GPS and low battery
  • Stops automatically at the finish
  • iPhone and Android app only
AFTER THE RACE

Recap: plan versus reality

After the finish it all becomes a race report: your finish time and, for every point on the course, planned versus actual arrival, who saw you and how you were feeling. Your crew adds what they saw as notes.

  • Finish time and difference per point
  • Every sighting from your crew
  • Notes from you and your crew

Frequently asked questions

How does live tracking work without a GPS tracker?

Dolichos calculates your position from your pace plan and start time. Every sighting from your crew corrects the forecast with your actual pace. A tracker or a phone on you is not required, but you can run with one.

Does my crew need the app?

Your crew opens the invite by link or code and joins right in the browser.

Can I use my phone as a GPS tracker?

Yes, optionally in the iPhone and Android app. Your phone then sends your position about every 30 seconds, which costs roughly 5% battery per hour. Arrival times use the pace from your GPS. This does not work in the browser, because location stops as soon as the phone is locked.

What happens if GPS drops out?

Your crew sees that no GPS is coming in. The forecast continues from the last good fix at your pace, and sightings correct it as usual.

What if there is no signal on the course?

Sightings are stored on the device and sent as soon as there is a connection. The calculated position keeps running on the device.

How many people can be in my crew?

As many as you invite. Each person can take one or more points on the course, and Dolichos warns about overlaps.

Does it work for triathlon?

Yes. The forecast runs through swim, transitions, bike and run, each at its own pace.
