RACE REPORT

What happened in your marathon, and what you’ll do differently next time.

After the finish your head is empty and your phone full of congratulations. A year later you no longer know at which kilometre it got hard, or why. Dolichos builds a race report from your GPS track and your crew’s sightings, then asks you area by area what went well and what didn’t. The "next time" points come back as soon as you plan your next race.

Race report in Dolichos: finish time 3:58:55 against a 3:59:06 plan, the pace curve over 42 km with actual and plan, slowing from km 32, and the course run on the map of Berlin
TIMELINE

Plan against reality, kilometre by kilometre

If your phone ran as a tracker, Dolichos turns the GPS track into your pace per kilometre and lays it over the plan. You see right away where you went out too fast and where it hurt. For triathlon there are splits per leg and transition. Without GPS the times come from your crew’s sightings.

  • Finish time against planned time
  • Pace per kilometre, per 5 km on the bike
  • Splits per leg and transition in triathlon
  • The course you ran on the map
NOTES

What your crew saw

For every stop you see when you were planned and when you actually came by, who saw you and how you looked. You and your crew pin notes to a stop, to a kilometre in the pace chart or to the whole race: "Looked relaxed", "Calf tightened up", "Headwind on the way back".

  • Planned against actual arrival at each stop
  • Notes with a tone: good, bad, neutral
  • Everyone edits only their own notes
Stops in a Dolichos race report: Kreuzberg at km 15 with a sighting from Jonas, rated "Good", and the note "Looked relaxed, took the gel straight away", Leipziger Strasse at km 39 rated "Tired" with Lena’s note about the cheering
REFLECTION

Went well, went badly, next time

The reflection walks you through the areas that fit your race: running, nutrition, gear, mindset, crew and logistics, and for triathlon also swim, bike and transitions. For each you give stars and write down what went well, what didn’t and what you will do differently. Add your official time and placing. Everything saves as you type.

  • Overall rating, summary, official time and placing
  • A rating and three questions per area
  • Your crew can read it, only you write it
Reflection in Dolichos: four of five stars, the summary "First marathon under four hours", official time 3:58:10 and placing, then the running area with "Went well", "Went badly" and "Next time: More long runs with a fast finish"

Back on the table for your next race

When you plan your next race, Dolichos shows the "next time" points from your last three races right in the planning tab. Drink more from km 25, add a third crew stop: what you promised yourself after the finish is there when you need it.

  • Your last three races with finish time and rating
  • Hide them per race
  • One tap back into the old report

Frequently asked questions

Do I need GPS for the race report?

No. Without GPS the report shows your finish time, your crew’s sightings against the plan, notes and the reflection. Splits and pace per kilometre need live tracking turned on in the iPhone or Android app.

Why is there an official time on top of the finish time?

The finish time in the app runs from pressing "Start" to pressing "Finish". Enter the net time from the results as your official time; it also shows up in your lessons learned.

Who can see my race report?

You and everyone you invited to that race. Only you write the reflection, every crew member can add notes. Spectators can read it but not write anything.

Can an AI assistant analyse my race report?

Yes. Through the MCP connector, Claude or ChatGPT reads your race report with splits, sightings and notes, and can fill in the reflection for you.

Does it work for triathlon?

Yes. There are splits per leg and transition, and the reflection also asks about swim, bike and transitions. There is no swim pace, because GPS under water is just noise.
